CFD Fire Prevention Bureau

The Division is responsible for the management support for the Fire Investigation Unit, the Hazardous Materials Code Enforcement Unit, the Fire Specialist Inspection Program, and the Fire Prevention Permit Program. In addition, the Fire Prevention Bureau has numerous outreach programs to help educate the public on fire safety and other life saving procedures.

    Direct contact with students attending Cincinnati Public Schools  located within low-income areas of Cincinnati

  • To ensure alarms are distributed to households within the City of Cincinnati where they are not already currently present

Administration Bureau Project

This Division is responsible for Fire Department Facilities, Communication and Computer Systems, Fire Apparatus and Personal Protective Equipment. In addition, the Administrative Services Division is the liaison link with many other city agencies.

Thermal Imaging Cameras

Estimated Cost: $120,000 (approximately $10,000 per unit)

A thermal imaging camera is an integral firefighting tool. As firefighters search buildings, they use the cameras to locate victims who otherwise might go unnoticed. They can also be used to detect hidden fires and catch them before they spread.
